John W. McLaughlin (I’m From Medway, ME) – Video Story

John W. McLaughlin struggled with crystal meth addiction and shared the low point of his life with us.

“One morning I woke up in some seedy hotel in downtown L.A. and I had no idea how I got there. I couldn’t move my legs and I didn’t know where I was. … I looked over and saw my phone in the corner, and I crawled over and picked it up and called my father in Medway, Maine, and said get me home or I’m dead.”

More importantly, however, McLaughlin also shared what ended up saving him, helping create the life he’s so grateful for today.

“I got well and all these amazing things started happening. I got married to the love of my life after 14 years. A dear friend who is a filmmaker contacted me and said I want to tell your story in film. I have this abundance of stuff, of things, of good things, of good quality, meaningful, important things in my life.”

I’m From Cedar City, UT.
I’ve known I was gay since I was 7 years old when I could look at guys and think they were cute. I think I could have been bisexual, but girls have scared me ever since being raped by a middle school girl when I was 8. The problem with being gay for me was I [...]
I’m From Merced, CA.
I was that girl. I still am. One of the few kids excited to return to classes because it meant that I got to go back-to-school shopping. Oh, the decisions it involved! Pick warmer clothes so that I could sport a new wardrobe in late October, or get the leftover summer items, ensuring a grand entrance [...]
