Eddie and I were playing Nintendo in his room and I was so psyched as I had never played The Legend of Zelda before. He and I were 11-year-old kids, and I was spending the night with a friend for the first time in a long time. I don’t remember how it came up, but we decided to sit on the ground with our legs outstretched and our feet touching and throw a ball at each other. If we missed catching the ball, we would have to scoot a little bit closer to each other. We got to the point where our faces were inches apart and I asked him to open his eyes really wide and we could look to see what was inside each others’ eyes. After we got really close, he kissed me on the cheek. I remember looking in his eye for the longest time when he kissed me, wondering what it all meant. I moved a little bit away, looked him in the face and we made a gentle kiss on the mouth to each other. We looked at each other and laughed and then went back to playing Nintendo. That night I got down off of his top bunk bed and went down to his bed to talk to him. I wanted to hug him so badly, and he opened his arms and let me slide in, it felt so great to rest my head on his shoulder. Somehow, in my own little 11-year-old way, I was in love with Eddie that night, and came to a realization that I wasn’t like the other guys in my class. He moved away 4 months later after school was over, as his dad was a Military guy and they would move around often. I have no idea what ever happened to him, if he turned out gay, straight, or what? I don’t remember his last name, I only barely remember the way he looked or acted. I can definitely say, though, he was the first guy I ever fell for, and I want to thank the adult Eddie wherever he is, for making it a good memory.
